Last night, with a wonderful group of death doulas, I watched The Last Ecstatic Days.

It’s the most incredible story of a young man approaching the end of his life, from a brain tumour. Determined not to die alone, determined that this be the last big adventure, he calls in a community to support and witness his last days. He is blessed with beautiful surroundings, attended by experienced doulas, but also just “normal” people who were moved to be with him.

It is emotional, uplifting, inspirational.

It makes me yearn for community, for the spaces we can hold each other, for something we have lost and desperately, in these times, need to remember and recreate.

Do watch it please, do arm yourself with tissues, do think of how you / we can contribute to the communities we need, do wonder what you would like your own death to be.

Powerful stuff.

About This Blog

I have created a blog to share my thought and journey with Stage 4 cancer. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can make the road a bit less frightening and give a few pointers of things I have learnt on the way.
