The dawn is breaking, streaks of gold, blue, grey, red lighting up this land that I know so well, love so well.
And as the first glimmer of light slips between the poplar trees, from the stillness comes a single song, the Robin that leads the dawn chorus.
I hear it everyday, I love it everyday, it is one of the many joys of living here, away from busy roads and streetlights.
But this day, I really listened. Not in an aware of it in the background kind of way. I listened with my head, my heart, my soul and it was glorious. It was as if I was hearing it for the first time, each exquisite note, rising and falling. A moment of pure beauty, pure joy, pure wonder.
And these are the moments that count for us all. In every day we can slow for a minute, for a few breaths and just be. Be touched by awe and beauty. What else is there but this?
